It's time...
Time to shed some pounds and get in better overall shape.
Jordan and I have been talking about getting in shape for months now and we're finally feeling the motivation to actually do it.
We've started a new "slimdown" blog, but I'm keeping it private until I decide I want you all to know all the nitty gritty about my weight. It's nice to have a place to be able to keep track of our progress and not have to worry about all of you knowing my numbers. I'll tell you this much...
My Goal:
Lose 23 pounds by September 15th by working out (hello, Jillian's 30 Day Shred!) and eating a healthy diet. By losing that amount of weight, I'll be in the healthy zone for my height and I'll feel SOOO much better about myself. I'm allowing myself until September because that equals about 2 pounds a week... which is a more healthy pace to lose the weight than attempting to do it all in 6 weeks.
I do feel like it's risky for me to put this out there because, quite frankly, I'm terrified of failure. I've wanted to do this for so long now, and I just find myself reverting to my old (bad) behaviors. So, keep me accountable, okay? (All 3 of you who read this!)
Jordan and I are doing this together, so he'll be a big help with motivation and accountability, but I'm going to keep blogging on here about progress, too... as another way to hold myself responsible. Who wants to write, "Well... I tried, but I didn't succeed"?! Not me!!!
So, here goes nothin.........

Kristen,
ReplyDeleteI saw your status update on facebook and had to sneak over and take a peak. I just wanted to share with you that I am also in the 'I must get healthy' time of my life. Having two kids has put a strain on my body and health; I am motivated for my kids’ sake as well as my own personal reasons to have a healthier life style. As of a month and a half ago I had about 35lbs I needed to lose to be considered 'healthy' and also being happy with my size. I have since lost 10lbs and hope to continue and lose the remaining 25. I am trying to eat healthier and add exercise to my daily routine. I have since started running about 2 to 3 times a week and also do the 30 day shred or Pilates. Some things I have found helpful in my weight loss is the website myfitnesspal.com which helps me stay on track with my eating habits plus motivate me to stick with it. More so than the website, having my husband support me has been the biggest motivation. While he has absolutely no weight to lose he has helped by exercising with me and also making an effort to eat healthier. Another thing I am doing to help motivate me is I have set up a few smaller goals and rewards at each of those small goals. For example I have when I lost the first 10 lbs I rewarded myself with a cute new pair of shoes. When I lose the next ten I am spending a day at the spa with a girlfriend and then the final 15 my husband and I have agreed to do a weekend get-a-way to Chicago. I want to wish you the best of luck and know that you can do it!

Kristen,
ReplyDeleteI recently found your blog and it was been great to learn more about the life you and your husband have. I was especially excited to hear that he is a pastor! (P.S. Any pastoral jobs in the area? Haven't had much luck lately)
Alaina and I have recently begun running as part of a "get in shape" goal. One of the things we did to help us was to sign up for a half-marathon in September. This was we have a tangible goal to work towards, plus we already shelled out a few bucks for the entry fee.
Best wishes for your new goal and keep up the good blogging.
Eric
